What is the difference between the two?

Manual cars have a clutch – brake and accelerator. The driver changes the gears using the clutch pedal and gear stick. When you increase (or decrease) speed the clutch pedal must be pressed to change the gears higher or lower.

In an automatic you only have brake and accelerator pedals. The car changes gear for you once you engage the automatic gear stick into ‘Drive’ no matter if you are speeding up or slowing down.

In automatic driving you do not have to learn clutch control (co coordinating the clutch, gear stick and accelerator) which can make the driving process quicker to pick up.

If you only learn automatic way of driving then you licence will only allow you to drive an automatic car. However when you pass in a manual car then you are allowed to drive both a manual and automatic.
